How To Prepare Text Files

Word Processing Files

All text files should be save as RTF (rich text format). Most word processors save in this format. RTF is platform independent and allows me to open any file and see the same formatting you applied on your computer. Don't get too picky about how pages break in your word processor. Page design and formating will be perfected once I get it into InDesign. The only formating we care about right now is italicized or bold words and a hard return after each paragraph.

Best to save photographic files as tif. You can get really good compression when saving images in jpeg format but at the cost of quality. If you really need to compress the file size down, use the highest quality setting when saving as jpeg.

Files can be uploaded to Symes Design using YouSendIt.com. This site allows free file transfers up to 100 megabytes. Just follow onscreen instructions.
